The Motorsport division of Volkswagen India has announced the next season of its one-make race series. But unlike all previous seasons, this time the company has introduced the Vento race car in place of Polo, which has been used in all the seasons, till date by Volkswagen. The 2015 edition of Volkswagen Vento Cup would carry forward the legacy of Polo R Cup.
The modified Vento for the race series would get FIA-prescribed additional elements in form of race seat, roll cage, and safety harness. Though, being based on the regular Vento production car, it would in-house a 1.4L TSI motor instead of the conventional 1.2L TSI or 1.6L gasoline powertrain. It would be linked to a 6-speed DSG gearbox, and it will transmit the power to the front wheels of the sedan, while running on high-octane fuel.
