The contrivance of compact sedans has changed the entry-level sedans market greatly in India. The sub-4 meter sedans have become much popular in last few years due to their alluring value for price proposition. Keeping the need of time in mind, the brands like Honda and Hyundai has already introduced their players in this sub-4 meter rivalry. And, now Volkswagen India mulling over making its entry in this segment with the tailored version of its Vento sedan.

It is said that the new compact sedan (codenamed as VW251\2) from the Volkswagen's stable has moved past the consideration level and presently is under planning stage. Apparently, the company is in touch with its vendors for the quotations related to the sourcing and development of the required components and parts for the new model. The new model will probably be sharing its underpinnings and other mechanical bedrocks with the Vento.

Volkswagen is likely to introduce its first-ever compact sedan around 2016 in India or we can expect it to make its global debut at the 2016 Auto Expo India. The company is also supposed to launch the Taigun SUV to compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport in India which is also expected to happen around the same time frame.
