Volkswagen joins the manufacturers like Toyota, Tata Motors, Nissan and Hyundai to announce the hike in the prices of its entire range of models in India from January 2018. The German carmaker has announced to increase the prices by Rs. 20,000 on its vehicles.

The Director of Volkswagen cars said that the reasons behind the revision of prices are several external economic factors along with the continuous fluctuations in prices of the global commodity as well as the increase in the local input costs.

The revision will witness the prices being increased by three percent, which will also depend on the type and variant of the products. The company currently sells five products in the country, which are - Volkswagen Ameo, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Vento. Moreover, the company also launched the powerful spec, Polo GTi, priced at Rs. 26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), this year.

2017 has been an eventful year for Volkswagen India, as it entered the highly competitive segment of subcompact sedan with the launch of Ameo. It is currently priced a Rs. 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), whereas, the hike will see its price go up by Rs. 20,000 in the coming year.

The German auto-giant is looking to start the new year with a positive approach and is most likely to launch the next-gen Passat and Tiguan in the country.
