Volkswagen organises group tour for its owners to Pune Plant

A Volkswagen dealer in Mumbai recently organised a group tour for its customers to company's manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The owners had a brief tour of the whole facility and witnessed the production processes (press shop, body shop, paint shop and final assembly line) of Volkswagen cars in India to understand the company's statement 'why only Volkswagen can make a Volkswagen'.

The Pune plant is the company's only manufacturing facility in India. Spread over 575 acres of land area, its construction started in 2007. Volkswagen invested over 3800 crores and the plant became operational on 31st December 2009. Interestingly, the company celebrated fifth anniversary of the plant last month and had rolled-out 3.67 lakh units by the date. The company assembles Polo, Vento and Jetta locally while bring the Toureg as a complete built unit to our shores.
