German auto maker, Volkswawgen showcased the Polo GTI at the 2016 Auto Expo and is expected to launch this power-filled hatch in the country later this. A 3-door Polo GTI was spotted in Pune going through rigorous testing, the car has been caught on camera many times and here are another set of spy shots that shows it will ride on a 15 inch wheels. The hatchback will enter as a CBU and is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Speaking of the exterior, the Volkswagen Polo GTI gets LED DRLs, new front bumpers with large air dams, honey comb grille that boasts of Volkswagen logo and a GTI badging along with a red highlight underneath, 5-spoke alloy wheels, sunroof and at the rear you will see twin chrome-plated exhausts. Inside, it features a flat bottomed three-spoke GTI steering wheel, Jacara upholstery, trims with red contrast stitching and aluminium pedals.
Mechanically, the PoloGTI hatchback draws its power from a 1.8-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 189hp & 250Nm of torque, and with this size of engine it will make fastest hatch in the country. Transmission duties will be carried out with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission that sends drive to the front axle. It can bolt from 0 – 100kmph in 6.7 seconds before hitting a topspeed of 236kmph.
Once launched in India it will greatly bridge between the budgeted hatch like the Punto Abarth and the expensive once like the Abarth 595 Competizione or Mini Cooper S.
