Volkswagen has revealed its future product plan for Indian market. The German auto manufacturer is aiming to increase its market share here and as it says, the automaker targets to become an affordable premium car brand in India. In 2018, Volkswagen plans to launch couple of special edition models and the Ameo GT TSI as well in order to boost its sales in the domestic market. Clearly, the brand will energies its product portfolio in India with exciting special edition models of Polo, Ameo and other models.
The Ameo GT TSI comes as part of its strategy to roll out the action models here. It will get power from a turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a DSG automatic gearbox. This will certainly add zing to the lineup and increase appeal of the Ameo sedan as well that has been designed and developed keeping Indian market in focus.
Another important part of Volkswagen’s future plan for Indian market is the MQB architecture. While, the brand sees the well acclaimed MQB platform as pricey for India market, it is working on collaboration with Skoda to develop a cheaper variant of the MWB. This new platform is expected to be christened as Eco and it will underpin Skoda and Volkswagen new car in coming years.
One of the most awaited upcoming cars from the German automaker is the Polo new car 2018 that has been already unveiled. The new Polo is based on MQB platform, but the India bound model will see some tweak. Apart from that, the Virtus sedan is another model that will be launched here. Volkswagen is also focusing on the CUV and SUV segments in order to boost its business in India. The T-Roc compact SUV could come here in near future, but the brand is still tight lipped about it.
