Volkswagen, the German automobile brand has brought back the most successful model in its history, the Volkswagen Golf. But this time around, the so-called best selling model comes with a major facelift, to give it a keener look, completely new generation infotainment and a newer engine.
The updated infotainment system in the Golf gets a completely digital display with new Active Info Display. This futuristic system will feature gesture support, the first among all Volkswagen cars. The 12.3-inch colour display, on the full digital instrument cluster, can display navigation informations in both 2D as well as in 3D. Moreover, depending on the model variants of Golf, the graphics will be customisable. For instance, the Golf GTI will feature a GTI red colour graphics, while the Golf GTE will feature blue. However, this Active Info Display will be an optional feature for all the new variants of Golf, against its existing analogue instruments.
Apart from the latest infotainment system, the best among all Volkswagen cars, the 2017 version of Golf will get an enhanced EA211 TSI engine. This highlight of this family of engines is the sporting 1.5 TSI engine with a maximum power of 145bhp. This will be succeeded by a BlueMotion version that will churn out a maximum of 130bhp of power. Moreover, the new version of the Golf GTI will feature an engine with an all powerful 230bhp capacity. Apart from this, the 6-speed DSG gearbox will gradually make way for a new 7-speed DSG gearbox to increase the efficiency.
The new 2017 version of Volkswagen Golf will come in three door, five door variants, ranging among the GTI, GTE and estate versions. All of these new face lifted versions is expected to go on sale in Europe by February next year.
