Volkswagen - the German automotive giant has revealed the T-Roc R which is awaiting its global premiere at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show. The crossover is another offering by the brand in their R line of performance cars. T-Roc R is heavily influenced by the Golf R performance hatchback in terms of engine specifications and power output and it is the sportier version of the T-Roc. The car gets elements like aggressive exteriors, premium interiors and a powerful engine that carry the overall sportiness of the crossover.
The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is derived from Golf R hatchback and churns out 304 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and also gets equipped with Haldex AWD system. The car gets bassy and loud Akrapovic Titanium exhausts and big breaks, as available on the Golf R performance hatchback. The suspension set-up is on the stiffer side but gets progressive steering system and adaptive dampers that will provide the consumers with a smooth ride experience. 18-inch wheels are offered as standard but the bigger 19-inch wheels are also available as an option.
Not only the power but also the car looks brute from the outside, all thanks to the aggressive front grille, large air intakes, matt-chromed side view mirror caps, black brakes and 4 exhausts. The vertical DRLs on the front also adds to the overall sportiness of the car. Big wheel arches on the side body panels give the car a commanding road presence. A silver insert is also visible just above the windows, connecting the rear and front. Volkswagen has tried to add every detail to make the car look premium and sportier.
The interiors also carry the sporty feel of the car and are equipped with a performance spec inspired steering wheel and aluminium pedals. The seats get carbon-fibre inspired patterns adding to the sporty feel of the crossover. Volkswagen has left no stone unturned to make the car a pure performance crossover in the areas of engine specifications, exteriors and interiors but, we all have to wait till it is launched in the flesh at the upcoming automobile extravaganza. Also, there is no official word on the possibility of the crossover hitting the Indian shores soon.
