Volkswagen has confirmed its plan to launch the T-Roc Cabriolet in 2020 and this is going to be the first SUV convertible from the German brand. Volkswagen plans to invest $100 million for the development of this car. Also, the German auto giant aims to roll out around 20,000 units of the T-Roc Cabriolet every year. As the automaker has released a design sketch of the car we get a clear idea how the SUV Cabriolet going to look like.
The design sketch of the upcoming Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet shows two doors and a soft top. There could be a hardtop variant of the SUV on offer. However, the German auto manufacturer is currently tight lipped about the hardtop variant. This SUV Cabriolet will be produced at the brand’s Osnabruck plant in Germany, where Volkswagen Tiguan and Porsche Cayenne are also manufactured. So far, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet is going to be a very exciting car from the brand.
Considering the fact that Volkswagen is emphasizing on enhancing its strength in India, the T-Roc Cabriolet could be an interesting product here. However, the auto major is yet to confirm the car’s arrival here and we hope to learn more in coming days. SUV convertibles are not very common in the automotive world, but Land Rover has earned pretty good attention with its Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet and Volkswagen too is expecting similar response with its upcoming car.
Compared to the Volkswagen T-Roc compact SUV, the convertible model won’t be much different. However, the latter model will come heavier compared to the former car. There would be less storage capacity at the back of the SUV convertible compared to the T-Roc compact SUV. Interior of both the Volkswagen cars will be similar with identical features and styling, while the engine and transmission options will be same as well.
