Volkswagen has a reputation for introducing new crossover vehicles and SUVs. The Volkswagen T-Roc Convertible SUV is one such attempt at cashing on the popularity of the regular Volkswagen T-Roc. The cabriolet version of the Volkswagen T-Roc will have a public premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019.
The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet design is inspired by the Range Rover Evoque Convertible design. The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet features an electrically-operable roof. It can open up in nine seconds as the SUV touches speeds of 31 kmph.
The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet will come in two engine variants, a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine of 114hp and a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine capable of delivering 148hp. The standard version of the Volkswagen T-Roc will pair with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the higher-end 1.5L version will have a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system.
The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet will be available in R-Line and Style variant packages. The Style variant features 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, and ambient lighting, whereas the R-Line offers more amenities at enhanced pricing. The additional features include leatherette sports seats and a sportier interior as well as the exterior appearance.
Both the trims come with safety technology like EBS with pedestrian detection mechanism at low speeds and lane-keep assist features. An 8-inch infotainment system along with a digital gauge cluster and 19-inch alloy wheels complete the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet specifications.
The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet, a global brand, will be available in the European market. The regular Volkswagen T-Roc could be available in India because of the import relaxations announced by the Government. Volkswagen can sell up to 2,500 units per year under the M1 category without homologation.
The regular Volkswagen T-Roc price could be around Rs 20 lakhs. One can expect the India-bound version to come with a 2L TSI petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic 4WD.
