Volkswagen Tiguan confirmed for AutoExpo

Snapshot: The sub 4-meter SUV from Volkswagen is ready to take on the Indian market, know about the car in details

The season of compact SUV is not over yet, the giant of the automobile industry, Volkswagen is yet to enter the hot segment of compact sub-4 meter SUV, where money is flowing like anything for the companies like Ford.

One of the most awaited upcoming cars title can easily go to Volkswagen Taigun, which was first showcased as a concept in Sao Paulo in 2012, now with the AutoExpo round the corner, Volkswagen will set the stage on flame with the production version of the Taigun.

The Taigun is based on the platform of Volkswagen Up! And measures less than 4-meteres, which will attract huge discounts from the government. With a wheelbase of 2.47 meters, the cabin space inside the Taigun is more than enough.

The Volkswagen Taigun will be powered by a 1.2 –liter 4 cylinder Turbo petrol engine, and is mated with a 6-speed manual and could also be mated with an automatic transmission. In international markets, Volkswagen is yet to add the diesel fuel option to the Taigun, but the popularity of the diesel fuel in India might just force Volkswagen to launch the car with diesel fuel option.

Taigun looks fairly similar to the Tiguan and Touareg though the car is much more compact and is visually pleasant to look at. The car displayed in the Brazilian market has LED lamps all around, which make the car look amazing. Indian market been almost similar to the Brazilian one, could see something very similar to the Taigun present in Brazil.

Volkswagen launched the Taigun in Brazil powered by a one-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine mated with 6-speed manual transmission. The engine delivers an impressive 110PS of maximum power with 175Nm of torque.

Being a Volkswagen, the quality of the car is top notch. When launched in India, Taigun will compete directly with the highly popular models like Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

It would be very interesting to see how things unfolds at AutoExpo this year and many companies including Honda is gearing up with a sub-4 meter launch.

Stay tuned as we bring more updates straight from the AutoExpo.
