The Volkswagen Tiguan, which was first showcased last year at the 2016 Auto Expo, has been spotted testing on the road. The Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is expected to come to India by the second half and is expected to be assembled locally in the company’s manufacturing plant in Aurangabad. The Tiguan SUV will be the first SUV in India from the company which will be based on the MQB platform which offers the company flexibility to produce or transfer production of cars based on this platform to any MQB-ready plant.
The second generation Volkswagen Tiguan SUV comes with sporty exterior design and sharp features all the way through. The MQB platforms takes away some weight, making the new generation Tiguan lighter by 50 kgs. Volkswagen group has said that it will be the first car from the the company’s make to come with dual LED headlamps. The sleek designed headlamps merge with the horizontally slatted front grille, thus forming a single element.
Volkswagen automobile company has generously added features in the Tiguan SUV as far as the interiors are concerned. The interiors are expected to get automatic climate control, redesigned seats and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Moreover, an option for an 8-inch infotainment system is also available based on the trim variants. The infotainment system will include connectivity with smartphones via Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.
The Indian version of the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is expected to get both petrol as well as diesel engine variants. The transmission option will be seen as a 7-speed dual clutch unit. This upcoming SUV will comes with options like FWD (front wheel drive) as well as AWD (4MOTION) trims. Volkswagen Tiguan SUV price in India is expected to fall between Rs 25-30 lakhs.
