The German giant, Volkswagen Group, planning to onslaught a total of ten plug-in hybrid and electric models in the Chinese market. The new product range is supposed to be launched completely by 2018 and the new models will aim to gather pace in the entry level segment and exquisite luxury car market as well. The new models will be launched under several Volkswagen Group's brands. The Chinese market does already have Porsche Panamera S E Hybrid from the Volkswagen Group which will be joined by the Volkswagen e-Up and e-Golf electric cars before the end of this year as part of this electric revolution.
In 2015, two plug-in hybrids: Audi A3 e-tron and Golf GTE will reach the Chinese market. However, Volkswagen will bring both these models as a Complete built-up unit from its German facility. Post that, a plug-in hybrid version of the Audi A6 and a newly-developed saloon in limousine-like styling are destined to reach China in 2016 to boost the presence of electric vehicles further. Other models will include the Bentley's first SUV that company has already announced to launch in 2017.
China has been one of the most booming auto markets across the globe. Targeting to have over 5 million electric vehicles on its roads by 2020, the country will also become a global leader in electric cars market in the future.
