- Volkswagen is preparing to stamp its authority in the Indian automobile market.
- The Auto Expo 2020 provides the ideal platform for them to do so.
- Expect a record line-up to be on display from the group at the Auto Expo 2020.
With an eye on consolidating its presence in the Indian market, Volkswagen plans to take advantage of the 2020 Auto Expo. The group is assembling a fantastic contingent of 100 senior executives and five Board Members at the Auto Expo to revolutionise the Indian auto market scene.
The Group has an ambitious plan to achieve a market share of 5% within the next five years by 2025. As if to whet your appetite, the group is planning to unveil a massive line-up for the Auto Expo.
Bernhard Maier, Chairman, Management Board of Skoda will grace the occasion along with Juergen Stackmann, Head of Volkswagen Global Sales to announce the further course of action in connection with the India 2.0 strategy announced by the Group in 2018.
The Group realises that China and Korea are eyeing the Indian market aggressively by introducing specific car models in 2019. The Auto Expo will be witnessing some of the major releases from China and Korea. Volkswagen is flying down its contingent to counter this threat from these Asian countries. There will be representatives from almost all the departments connected with auto manufacturing, marketing, sales, R&D, Quality Control, and sourcing.
The luxury brands like the Porsche, Audi, and Lamborghini will be missing from the show. However, Volkswagen and Skoda will be present to showcase their might by unveiling 12 to 15 products, largely SUVs.
The MQB A10 modular platform is already at work in the Indian auto scene. The Group has plans to invest a total of Euro One Billion (approx. Rs 8000 crores) for introducing a range of products under the MQB A10 platform.
One can expect the first vehicle from this platform to launch in the Indian market in about a year from now. The product will be compatible with the Indian market and suit the needs of the Indian audience. Skoda has assumed the responsibility of developing and designing the models for the Group in the Indian market.
