Volkswagen to walk down the path of performance with the Polo GTI's release in November

The Bavarian car maker Volkswagen is all set to launch its latest Polo GTI in November. The GTI is a sportier version of the regular Polo hatchback with more power and better suspension which is tuned specifically for spirited track driving.

The GTI is a sportier iteration of the regular Polo and is the first model in India which is totally performance oriented. The GTI will most likely get a 1.8litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which can produce maximum power of 188bhp and massive 320Nm of torque. The engine should be further connected to a seven speed DSG gearbox, all of these together helps the car to achieve a beastly performance. The hatchback can go from 0 to 100 km/h in as fast as 6.7 seconds, and it can achieve a top speed of 236 km/h. The new Volkswagen Polo GTI will come with All wheel drive (AWD) system, new sports suspension and disc brakes. According to reports from various sources, the car will also come with engine drag torque control, vehicle dynamics function XDS+ and electronic differential lock for better stability and performance while on track.

On the outside, the GTI will come with LED headlamps, honeycomb mesh grille, re-designed bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust, GTI badges, GTI spoiler and red brake calipers. In the inside the interiors are entirely black and would be equipped with height adjustable driver seats, they will also come with new upholstery and red stitching.  Other features include electrically adjustable and folding rearview mirrors, cruise control and a 2-DIN music system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth compatibility. The flat bottom steering wheel adds to the sporty look and feel. It also gets mounted audio controls buttons.

VW is all geared up to explore the world of performance hatchback in India with its upcoming Polo GTI. Fiat has already ventured in this segment with its Abarth Punto, which creates far more power than the regular Punto. So if you are looking for a hatchback with brilliant performance then your search should end with the GTI, however don’t expect it to be a cheap car, it is likely to be priced around INR 13lakhs.
