Recently the German car maker Volkswagen, equipped its Vento sedan with an updated 1.5-litre diesel engine, that was introduced in the VW Ameo compact sedan. The updated 1.5-litre TDi motor is fundamentally similar to the motor which serves the Ameo and the new Skoda Rapid ,so it was expected that the Vento will get a similar upgrade. However, the Vento has only received an upgrade regarding the engine, no cosmetic changes have been done yet.
The updated engine is slightly more powerful at 108 bhp, which is identical with the Ameo. In addition to the new engine the company has also introduced a new colour shade - Silk Blue, just what we saw in the Ameo. The updated 1.5-litre engine is essentially the old 1.5-litre engine, with a larger turbocharger. The larger turbocharger has bumped up the power a bit, which translates into real world performance. As a result the Vento has got 4 bhp more power than before. However, the torque figure is still the same with 250nm. The company is still offering the Vento diesel in two transmission options, 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG gearbox that translates into a mileage of 22.27 kmpl and 22.15 kmpl respectively.
The sedan additionally gets features such as airbags, ABS, EBD, automatic rain sensing wipers, touch screen infotainment system and auto dimming IRVM. Thankfully the company hasn’t increased the price of the sedan and the base variant retails at 9.46 lakhs in India.
