It was back in March this year when Volkswagen India launched the Vento Magnific Edition and now there’s a new special version out that goes by the name of Highline Plus Edition. As its moniker suggests, this one is based on the generously equipped Vento Highline trim and can be had with either the 1.6-liter MPI gasoline engine or the more economical 1.5 TDI diesel unit.
Compared to the standard model, this special package adds a black roof rail which nicely contrasts the white body while the side profile has gained new moulding inserts. There’s also an attractive carbon fiber-like finish on the side mirror caps while on the inside Volkswagen India has fitted a similar carbon fiber look for the center console. Other tweaks include bespoke floor mats, scuff plates and a set of window blinds. The main highlight of the interior is without any doubt the touchscreen-based Blaupunkt infotainment system that has support for GPS navigation to make sure you don’t get lost.
Volkswagen India says the Vento Highline Plus Edition will be available across all of the company’s dealers in the country and will come as standard with ABS and dual front airbags. Customers should know this new version can be had as an upgrade over the Vento Highline with the manual gearbox, but there’s no word just yet regarding the asking price. However, sources close to the matter indicate it costs an additional INR 29,000 over the standard Volkswagen Vento Highline trim.
Keep in mind this new iteration of the model brings only cosmetic tweaks inside and out, so give it some thought before deciding whether it is worth paying extra for what is essentially a styling kit for the popular sedan aimed to enhance the model’s appearance and boost sales even further for Volkswagen India.
