Volkswagen's new budget brand coming in 2017

Snapshot: Volkswagen working on a new budget brand for growing markets like India

After much controversial debate over Volkswagen's new budget brand, apparently, the company's senior board will approve the new development this summer, says German media. If the project is approved, VW Group will be required to incur a huge investment along developing company's internal management and infrastructure exponentially to meet out the demands for making a strong foothold in the mass markets.

Once the project is approved, the first budget car with new unknown badge will reach the market by 2017. The company is developing the brand for competitive markets like India, Thailand, Brazil, Russia and others. Interestingly, for initial period the company's focus is completely on Chinese market and to keep the costs down, Volkswagen is expected to settle down an assembly line in China for the new brand.
