The Volvo Concept XC Coupe won the prestigious 'Best Concept Car' award at the ongoing 2014 Detroit Motor Show. A team of retired and acclaimed auto designers granted the award to the XC Coupe because of its futuristic appeal among the others. Futher increasing the excitement, the concept also won the award for 'Best Use Of Colors, Graphics and Materials'. The XC coupe concept design is inspired from the company's yesteryear premiered concept sports coupe.
The 3-door XC Coupe is based on Volvo's newly-developed Scalable Product Architecture ( SPA) platform. The new light weight structure is supposed to underpin Volvo';s future models and will be first introduced on the upcoming 2014 XC90. The astronomic design of XC Coupe hints about how Volvo's future SUVs would look like. The concept boasts a wide road stance with its simple but curious body shell design. The flamboyant creases on bonnet and razor-sharp cuts on sides add sophisticated touch to the XC Coupe.
Volvo cars are world-known for serving an uncompromising level of safety in their cars, even Volvos are known as the world's safest cars. The company has always been found working on an unimaginable technology, ultimately to improvise the safety and comfort benchmarks for the Volvo buyers. But the boring and immature appeal of Volvo cars has always been a major reason that turn the buyers to look for other options in the respective segments. However, the new generation S60 and XC60 in India and the Concept XC Coupe bespeak about the painstaking effort that company is putting in improving its design language.
