The Swedish automaker, Volvo, today announced four new dealerships in India. The new outlets will be inaugurated in West Delhi, Pune, Surat and Chandigarh and will become operational within the next one month. The company entered the Indian market in 2007 and currently has 13 dealerships in its sales and service network in the country. Interestingly, the owners of the new West Delhi and Surat dealerships are already in business with Volvo India: operating existing outlets in Gurgaon and Surat.

Thomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India (VAI) said, “Taking our philosophy of ‘Designed Around You’ a step further, we are happy to bring the all new Volvo Retail Experience at 4 new locations. With the new dealers, VAI is confident of expanding its market share and creating more patrons for its brand. We will continue to grow as we start sales with 15 functional dealerships across key cities, generating a strong brand presence.”

Presently, Volvo offers 5 models in India – the V40 CrossCountry, S60, S80, XC60 and the full-sized 7-seater XC90 SUV. All the models reach our shores via the Completely-Built-Up (CBU) route that also make them highly priced in their respective segments. However, the company is setting up its plant in Karnataka where production of some models will start soon through the Completely Knocked down (CKD) route. Last year, Volvo sold only 936 units in the Indian market, with the company’s vision being 10,000 units to be sold in India in a few years.
