Volvo Cars India has launched the XC90 T8 Excellence at a sticker price of Rs. 1.25 Crores (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. Being the most luxurious model in the 89 years of Volvo's history, it is the first plug-in-hybrid SUV in India. Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid is also the safest SUV in its segment, which comprises of Audi Q7, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Being touted as the world's cleanest 7-seater SUV, it comes with three driving modes: Pure, Hybrid and Power.
"The XC90 T8 Excellence sets industry benchmarks for environment friendly efficiency and emissions while enveloping customers in first-class Swedish luxury. It is not only a segment-first but India's first plug-in-hybrid SUV and we see a lot of interest from our more affluent customers, who prefer to experience 'responsible' luxury," said Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India. Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence comes draped in luxury with several high-end features such as Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System with 20 speakers, Panoramic Sunroof, Air Suspension for all 4 wheels, Individual 4-seats in Nappa leather with 6-way adjustable, Perforated heating/cooling and massage functions in all seats, etc. to name a few.
The Swedish automaker is offering two charging stations, which are included in the price of the T8 Excellence. The charging stations can be installed at locations of customer choice by Volvo experts and can charge the SUV within 2.5 hours. Supposedly, if the charging stations are installed at home and office, then 80 kilometers per day of emission-free driving can be enjoyed. As for safety, the XC90 T8 Hybrid carries an array of world-class features in form of Adaptive cruise control, Lane departure warning, Collision warning with full auto-braking for Pedestrians, Cyclists, other vehicles and large animals, Blind-spot detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Collision Warning, and Park Pilot Assist. Being based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture, the SUV is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. The former develops 320bhp of maximum power, while the latter churns out 87bhp of top power. Hence, the XC90 T8 has a total power output of 407bhp and peak torque of 640Nm, while touching the 100kmph mark from standstill in just 5.6 seconds.
