German auto giant Volkswagen has now finally launched the Vento 1.2 TSI at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The VW Vento 1.2 TSI is the performance-oriented version of the car, which derives its power from the same 1.2-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol mill that also does its duty to the recently launched VW Polo GT TSI.
With this new engine, the car is capable of churning out the maximum power output of 103bho, while yielding 175Nm of peak torque. The car also gets the same 7-speed DS gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the Vento TSI is impressive 16.93kmpl, despite being a performance enhanced version. What adds more value to this product are the range of features offered on the car like ABS, electronic stabilization program (ESP), hill-hold function, 3-point seatbelts at the front, dual frontal airbags and electronic engine immobilizer with floating code.
Commenting on the all new Vento TSI, Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, "With the new Vento TSI, Volkswagen takes the lead with producing cars that are high-tech, powerful and fuel-efficient. With a turbocharged petrol engine and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, the Vento TSI provides excellent performance and fuel economy. With its class-leading build quality and high levels of fit and finish, the Vento TSI will be the car of choice for discerning buyers."
Some time back, Volkswagen shared its intentions to probably retire naturally aspirated engines from its line-up to get all turbocharged. And this seems a step in the same direction. While in the case of VW Polo, the company axed the Polo 1.6-litre petrol model earlier this year and brought in the Polo GT TSI as a replacement, both the 1.6-litre manual and automatic will continue to be sold alongside the new Vento TSI.
