Will he, won't he at Catalunya?

Snapshot: With 6 premier class victories, Valentino Rossi has the maximum no. of wins at Circuit de Catalunya, but is it enough to break Marquez's clean record this season?

If you are a MotoGP fan, you must have seen the last three laps of 2009 Catalan Grand Prix where Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo overtook each other more than a few 'million' times and Rossi's final overtake at the last corner of the last lap made him win it eventually. So, why are we so kicked about the race that is going to take place 3 days from now? Is it just being a track that is well suited for every kind of rider with long straights and sweeping corners? Or is it also a reason for us to believe that it has a good chance of seeing Rossi being on top of the podium because of the experience he has here. Next in line is Jorge Lorenzo who has won all the races held here since 2010 except 2011 when Casey Stoner took it away from him riding his Honda. It also is historic as late Marco Simoncelli claimed his first pole position here before expiring in 2011.

The Honda team will also try to do anything to close in their 100th MotoGP win since its inception in 2002 replacing the 500 cc category. Which is something that seems highly achievable considering the form its rider Marc Marquez is enjoying this season. Marc has won all the 6 races that have taken place this year making him earn a total of 150 points. But, if superstition is to be believed, only on two occasions a rider has won it starting from pole position; Valentino Rossi in 2006 and Jorge Lorenzo in 2010. With 6 premier class wins, Rossi has been on podium on 10 occasions.

Keeping everything aside, we are almost sure that this is going to be a fun filled weekend in Spain. With 3 riders desperate to hit back out of which 2 are from the Yamaha team, it should be worth the wait.
