Will Pulsar SS400 cross the finish line before CS400?

Snapshot: Pulsar SS400 is all set to storm India by mid 2015

Blame it on hyperactive bike manufacturers or too much of motorcycle launches in the recent times, the Indian biker is more impatient than ever. If a manufacturer takes too much of time to launch a motorcycle, the product is a failure before it hits the market.

Last year, just as Indian motorcyclists were trying to get used to the phenomenon known as KTM Duke 390, Bajaj - its Indian counterpart - unveiled two new Pulsars at the Auto Expo 2012. The SS 400 (Super Sport 400) flaunted a fairing and seemed to have arrived straight from the sets of the latest Transformer movie. It also had a twin projector headlamps, along with a neat meter console, standard ABS, unique tail-lamp and a look that will encourage you to rev it hard without worrying.

On the flip side, the SS400 won't have CS400's USD front forks that means a little less confidence on a bumpy ride. The CS400 is more of a stripped down version of SS400 with a comfortable streetfighter look. The USD forks at the front, ergonomic looking seat, a stylish exhaust, make it less brutal looking than its sibling, but doesn't mean that it won't lose it cool at a twist of the throttle.

Both these bikes will be loosely based on the Duke 390's platform. A certain section of people has always ranked Pulsar 200NS high above the Duke 200, and if Bajaj continues this trend, you can expect something that is more frugal than the Duke 390 with better fuel efficiency, and minus all the little issues Duke 390 is infamous for.

According to the latest speculations, the faired brother is going to lure the customers before the sober looking                 brother makes its grand entry in the market. The SS400 should see the light of the day somewhere in the middle of 2015 and the CS400 should hit the market a couple of months later, making it early 2016.
