Will the Jaguar F-Type SVR look like this?

Snapshot: Tata Motors-owned Jaguar will launch a 600+ bhp F-Type SVR beast.

As if the F-Type R wasn’t already ludicrous enough (in the best possible way), the engineers from Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division are hard at work developing an even more insane version which will wear the highly desirable “SVR” badge. It will go on sale sometime next year and will probably look a lot like these speculative renders from independent artist Virtuel-Car.

The body of the car will look even more menacing than the R variant and perhaps the most important difference between the two will be the addition of a prominent fixed rear wing which will likely be made from carbon fiber to keep the weight down low. Expect to see beefier front and rear bumpers, enlarged side skirts, huge air vents along with new alloy wheels, stiffer suspension and uprated brakes to match the additional power.

Speaking of power, the Jaguar F-Type SVR is set to employ an evolution of the V8 5.0-liter supercharged gasoline engine that will churn more than 600 bhp. The beefy eight-cylinder engine will work with a revised version of the 8-speed Quickshift automatic transmission sending power exclusively to both axles as there aren’t any plans to offer a rear-wheel drive version.

We haven’t heard anything just yet regarding the performance of the new range-topper F-Type, but it’s easy to assume it will be much faster than the R version, so the 0-100 kmph task will likely be completed in less than four seconds whereas the top speed will go well beyond the 300 kmph mark.

The F-Type SVR will probably be a regular production model rather than a limited-run special edition and Jaguar will offer it both as a coupe and convertible. We will have to wait and see whether both body styles will be launched concomitantly or Jaguar has plans to show the coupe first and then wait a few months before rolling out the roofless version.

An official reveal is expected in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show and most definitely the SVR badge will command a serious premium over the F-Type R, but even so we are certain it will sell like hotcakes.
