Wissam Jayyoussi embarks on a new journey
Snapshot: ‘Goodwill Journey’ is a Solo Motorcycle trip around the world to help and support Children with Cancer
Wissam Al-Jayoussi has started with his adventure today on a KTM Adventure R packed with some solid modifications for his 240,000KM trip, crossing 110 countries over 2 years with the goal of raising over 2 million USD for a children's charity. It's an ambitious test of man and machine, and Wissam has chosen the KTM Adventure R as his weapon of choice for the trip. People can follow and track the position of Wissam on http://goodwilljourney.org/.
Wissam is riding for the hundreds of thousands of sick and underprivileged children in the Middle East. He is working with Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and his ultimate goal is to raise funds for the building of children’s hospitals and for medical missions across the entire Middle East region.
"Many people ask me why I do the Goodwill Journey, or at least, why I continue to do it and the answer lies in the people I meet."When I ride through different countries, most people have never heard of Palestine outside of what they hear on the news so by meeting me, they can gain a kind of personal interest and they might start doing their own research. If, after meeting me, someone donates to the cause, even if it is just a small amount, it gives me all the hope in the world because I feel like I have made a difference. "Now we are attempting the biggest stage of our challenge yet, we really need as much support as possible so that we can reach as many people as possible. Together I believe we can make a difference” said Wissam.
Starting from Dubai, Wissam is set to ride alone on a KTM 1190 Adventure motorbike, which is already customized for the journey. He will first cover the Middle East and Asia before heading south towards Australia and arriving in the USA. This is what we call the X-axis, where Wissam will be traveling in a horizontal direction. After traversing America, he will change direction and head around the globe on the Y-axis. There he will start from Alaska and ride down to the southernmost point of South America. Finally he travel to Africa and make his way north through the continent across Europe and will reach Dubai again after approximately 21 months later.
