What happens when the ex- Senior Vice President of Concept Design for Walt Disney Imagineering decides to do something with an automobile and design a car? The person concern, Mr. Eddie Sotto is an American experimental designer and know a thing or two about designing some of rather intriguing concepts, one of which is his latest creation.
We are talking about a Rolls Royce Wraith, which has been re-imagined as the Rolls Royce Wraith Regatta by Mr. Sotto. As if the regular Wraith wasn't opulent enough, the concept by Mr. Sotto will leave you adamant to rob a bank, because this stunning piece of art will set you back by almost $1 million, a price worth every inch of the car you are paying for.
Why is this particular Wraith so special, you may ask? Well, for starters, the artist took inspiration from classic wooden motor yachts do design the special Wraith, and what you get is a white colored masterpiece finished in wood grain. The Wraith Regatta features mahogany wood planking on the hood, roof, and on the rear section.
Mr. Sotto came up with this classic design because he is not a big fan of the current customized Rolls-Royce and calls them "more garish than graceful". To make his version of Rolls Royce different, Sotto provides its customers a variety of wood-paint combos to further personalize the high-end coupe, and not just some modifications of “giant wheels and gold and bright colors.”
To give further details about his inspiration, Sotto specifies that the Phantom II Boat Tail with its combination of lacquered wood planks and steel “absolutely captivated my imagination”. And so the wooden Wraith Regatta is trying to rekindle the magic. But there is more to the Regatta than its special exterior alone.
The interior cabin of the Wraith Regatta by Sotto was changed to match the body’s nautical theme. The door panels and the dashboard come with a wooden finish, along with brass-trimmed vents and nautical-brass inlays. California based Aria Group who have made some interesting concepts in the past, including Kia GT4 Stinger and Mazda Furai will be responsible for the customization of the cabin and you can re-imagine it in million possible ways.
And if you are a filthy rich billionaire with money-no-bar policy, you can also buy a matching jet, designed by Eddie Soto himself. Read it right? A jet to match the Wraith, because who cares! Dubbed as "Skyacht One", the jet is based on the Embraer Lineage 1000E. What's the price of the jet, then? Only 83 times more than the Wraith itself - $83 million! Keep your cheque ready!
