WSBK 2015 - Davide Giuliano to miss Season Opener
Snapshot: Sad news as Ducati Aruba.it rider is going to miss the season opener due to fracture....
The best and most wonderful time of the year is almost here, and yes, it is indeed the time when the Moto GP, WSBK and the Formula 1 are all just about to start of their engines for the first time on track in a race day very soon. After a long hard winter breaks for the fans of the track motorsports and a welcome rest time for the riders and drivers, everyone is eagerly looking forward to the season opener races in WSBK, Moto GP and Formula 1 for the season of 2015.
However there is sad news coming in from the Ducati WSBK effort, as Davide Giugliano has been confirmed to miss the World Superbike opening round at Phillip Island this weekend as a result of the Italian fracturing his L1 and L2 vertebrae in a crash at Turn 11 on the Australian track during a testing session.
Giugliano had shown good pace on the Ducati Panigale RS15 through-out testing, and the Italian has shown that Phillip Island is one of the tracks he excels at in racing conditions. “I’m very upset about the crash because things had been going very well,” Giugliano said. “I had good feeling with the bike by the end of session one and I was able to lap with consistently fast times,” said Giugliano. The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike team will not be replacing Giugliano for the Phillip Island round, and expects the Italian to be fit for racing by WSBK’s second round, in Thailand on March 22nd.
