The legendary multinational Indian based automobile manufacturer Tata, has formally unveiled the Tuff Truck concept at the national 4x4 and outdoors auto show held in Australia. The Xenon Tuff Truck Concept has been visualized and created in partnership with Tata’s Australian distributor, Fusion Automotive. Chief designer Julian Quincy of Walkinshaw Automotive led the design team, that created the Concept.
The Concept is colored in a matt finish Arden Gray, with humongous 20 inch alloys that gives the Concept a very distinct off-roader look with pure Truck DNA. The roof of the truck is mounted with 4 Narva LED xenon off-road lights, an alloy skid with winch and tow hooks and an intake snorkel. The exterior has been given a thorough update, with the front grille now with a bigger brand logo, sports bar in the cargo compartment, and new front and rear bumpers.
Cosmetic changes have been made, but the Concept is still powered by the 2.2 liter Dicor block that currently is housed by the normal models. The 2.2 liter Dicor is capable of pumping out 148 BHP. Wedded to a 5 speed manual transmission the gearbox transmits power to all 4 wheels, because the Concept is a 4x4 version.
This unveiling was just to give a hint to the citizens of Australia that Tata was entering into the market. Although the concept will not go on sale anytime soon, plans to start production are underway. Darren Bowler, the managing director of Fusion Automotive said that, they wanted to get the reaction of the public first, before they commence with anything. The main aspect he was looking for was the brand appeal. The moment the car was unveiled it did create a brand appeal, but for now the Xenon Tuff Truck is just a concept. He said that he would love to start with production of the car someday, but the demand has to exist in the market to go ahead with it. He finally stated, not be surprised if Tata launches a limited edition version of the Tuff Truck.
