The Yamaha Aerox 155 Maxi Scooter, which is already on sale in other Asian markets like Malaysia and Indonesia, has been spied in India at a Yamaha service centre. As per the reports, the scooter can be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and arrive in the Indian market on February 25th, 2018.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 was first showcased at the Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix, and then was subsequently launched in various Asian countries. In India, it is being touted as the Yamaha’s reply to the newly launched Honda Grazia, which is quite popular in the segment. It is expected that some features will be omitted or downgraded in order to launch it with a competitive price tag in India.
The current version of the Aerox has been powered by a 155cc liquid cooled, fuel injected single cylinder engine that produces 14.8 Bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine will be mated to an automatic CVT gearbox. It gets a pair of 14-inch wheels, telescopic front forks and ABS, making it an excellent scooter for driving on the city streets.
Design-wise, the Yamaha Aerox 155 looks aggressive with a sporty design. It features Twin-eye LED headlights, LED tail and brake lights, stepped seat with 25 litres under-seat storage, fuel filler and seat release buttons, and a mobile charging socket. The current version also has a 5.8-inch LCD display acting as the instrument cluster, protected by a short windshield over the handlebar.
There’s no official word on the pricing yet, but it is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 65,000 to Rs. 70,000. In addition to the Honda Grazia, it will also be competing against the Aprilia SR150 and Suzuki Burgman 155.
