Yamaha India has achieved the production milestone of 10 million units in the country. The company had started operations in the Indian market around 34 years back in 1985. It currently has three production facilities at Surajpur, Faridabad & Chennai and all three of them jointly contributed to this milestone. The 10 millionth unit was the best-seller Yamaha FZS-FI V 3.0 from the Chennai factory. It was rolled out in presence of senior management members from Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Japan, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, Mitsui & Co. Ltd., Vendor park companies and employees.
Yamaha announced that it has accomplished yet another feat by producing 5 million units alone in last seven years between 2012 & 2019. The scooter range, especically the Fascino, contributed to 44 percent of the overall production. The two company factories in the North Indian regions of Surajpur & Faridabad contributed to 80 percent while the Chennai facility in Southern India made a contribution of 20 percent to the overall 10 million units produced till date. The Japanese bikemaker produced a total of 77.88 Lakh motorcycles and 22.12 Lakh scooters till date. For those asking, the combined production capacity of all the three plants stand at 9 Lakh units in 2019.
