The cause of this Major recall is due to incorrectly manufactured shift cam segment stopper. The fault in shift cam segment stopper might lead to transmission failure and increases the chances of a crash. Around 4900 motorcycles are found to be affected in US, all produced from Sept. 1 to Nov. 17, 2014.Shift cam segment stopper on the transmission shift shaft is the point of the fault.
This inner edge of the segment stopper is sharp instead it should be well rounded with a smooth radius where it bends. Due to fatigue from concentrated stress, the stopper may shear off at the sharp edge. This may result in stopper to break leading to failure in transmission and high chances of a crash.
All the motorcycles affected from this recall have been listed they are FJ-09 (FJ09F/FC), FZ-09 (FZ09F/FC), FZ6R (FZ6RF/FC), Super Ténéré (XTZ12F/FC), Super Ténéré ES (XTZ12EF/EFC), and R6 (YZF-R6) motorcycles manufactured from September 1, 2014 to November 17, 2014.
