Yamaha has unveiled the new 2018 version of the X-Max 125 cc scooter. It gets some electronic updates along with some other tweaks as well. The scooter has been unveiled in the European market, a place where this kind of maxi scooters have been doing pretty well. This maxi scooter segment has almost no existence in the Indian market.
The 2018 Yamaha X-Max 125 cc is now more like the bigger X-Max 300 and X-Max 500. It is fitted with a 124 cc liquid cooled, single cylinder engine which can thrust out a maximum power of 14 bhp at 8,750 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 12 Nm at 6,500 revs per minute.
In terms of the electronics, the 2018 Yamaha X-Max gets the traction control system from its bigger siblings. Dual channel ABS (anti-lock braking system has also been given as a standard in this maxi scooter. The traction control system employs a particular type of sensor which is used to measure the speed of the rear wheel and also reduce the driving force of any rear wheel spinning is detected. Moreover, the physical cues now consist of telescopic suspension on the larger 15-inch front wheel which will improve the ride stability and control.
On the aesthetic, the 2018 version of the Yamaha X-Max will be getting a big under seat storage for two helmets, an adjustable screen and handlebars, central LCD display dual LED headlights and tail lights. It will be available in Sonic Grey, Blazing Grey, Phantom Blue and Radical Red.
According to the current situation, Yamaha has no plans to introduce any of its maxi scooters in India despite premium scooters showing good signs of growth. Piaggio grew a whopping 120 percent between the period of April to August with the current models of Aprilia and Vespa.
