BMW S1000R will reach its customers with a price tag of Rs 22.83 lakhs

The S1000R - the naked and subdued variant of BMW's legendary S1000RR - is more like a catastrophe of the mind that the human race just can't define! The detuned S1000RR minus some clothes was launched globally in November 2013 and looked as good as with clothes on.
The S1000R has the same engine as that of S1000RR which is a 999 cc, inline four cylinder, but the power has been trimmed to 160 bhp and the torque is 112 Nm. Despite being detuned, the S1000R has too much of power considering its light weight. That's why, the safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) come as a standard fitment.
The S1000R shares S1000RR's chassis and has a lazy steering and longer wheelbase for more stability and comfort. 46 mm front forks and the rear monoshock are fully adjustable, but it also has a suspension Dynamic Damping Control (DDC).
The instrument cluster, styling and the riding position are all new, but the Brembos that are there on the S1000RR remain the same.
Keeping in the mind the price of its faired version - S1000RR - of Rs 28.32 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Mumbai), the BMW S1000R at Rs 22.83 lakhs(Ex-showroom, Mumbai) seems to be a good option, but will find more place in people's dreams than in their garages.
In India, BMW motorcycles are being sold by Navnit Motors in Bangalore and Mumbai, and Deutsche Motoren in Delhi/NCR.
