Through all the sublime, ferociously fast, technologically Marvelous and beastly powerful Kawasaki's being displayed at the EICMA. What has taken our fancy are two tiny little models, which make a much more sense for this part of the world. Kawasaki has showcased two new models for the entry level performance fans, the Z250SL and the Ninja 250SL.

The Ninja 250SL is essentially the faired version of the Z250SL. Hence, both motorcycles are powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected 249 cc engine which makes 28 PS (27.6bhp) at 9,700 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 8,200 rpm, paired to a 6-speed transmission.

The lighter Z250SL weighs 148 kg (150 kg in case of the ABS variant) and the Ninja comes in at 151 kg (152 kg for the ABS model). The motorcycles are based on a tube diamond frame and get 37 mm telescopic forks at the front and a Uni-Trak with adjustable spring preload damper at the rear.

A single 290 mm disc with a dual-piston calliper does duty at the front and a 220 mm disc with a similar calliper is present at the rear. Both motorcycles get a 11 litre fuel tank. In terms of dimensions, there are mild differences in these bikes thanks to the fairing.

While they both measure 1,935 mm in length, the Z250SL is slightly wider at 700 mm (the Ninja is 685 mm) and a bit shorter at 1,015 mm (the Ninja measures 1,075 mm). The Z250SL has a higher 180 mm ground clearance compared to the Ninja’s 165 mm.
