EICMA 2015 - Ducati brings in Multistrada 1200 Enduro - True Italian ADV!
Snapshot: Finally Ducati brings in a true blue adventure tourer to the game and we love it....
The Ducati Multistrada 1200 is an incredibly capable motorcycle but it was always supposed to be a 80/20 when it came to off road capabilities, with the smaller part being off road, thus there always was a space int he Ducati line-up which asked for a true blue Off Road Enduro that could compete fair and square with the might of the BMW's and the KTM's. Now finally Ducati has an answer in the form of the 2016 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro marks the first true foray by the Italian motorcycle manufacturer in the highly lucrative and prestigious Adventure Touring segment of Motorcycles, and looking at what Ducati has cooked from the underpinnings of the incredibly capable Multistrada, we are certain that Ducati has given themselves one real potent rival to the present kings of the segments. The Multistrada Enduro promises to be a hardcore adventure tourer with a purpose built trail stomper.
It is evident from the photos as well as from the video Ducati has released that the Multistrada Enduro has gone through several changes to make it more ADV capable, such as, a very important addition of a double sided swingarm that is needed for added strength and rigidity to deal with the harsh surroundings. There is also an addition of a 19″ front wheel which wears knobby tires, a longer sturdier skid plate, and a higher-mounted single exhaust can.
The fuel tank has also been redesigned and now can contain 30 litres of fuel, making the bike good enough for more than 450km range, a welcome and much needed addition to what an adventure tourer might want from his/her bike. The side panels on the semi fairing are now made of aluminium which provide the bike with more ruggedness. However, all these additions make the Enduro a hefty 234kg, a side effect every enduro suffers from.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro is powered by the Ducati’s variable valve timing Testastrtta DVT engine just like its more rod friendly sibling meaning the Enduro gets a sublime power output of 160hp, but then as Multistrada's are known for one can utilize the insane power via its different riding modes. The Multistrada 1200 Enduro among its reworked pannier support system and body pieces, contains a genuinely new feature which is being called “Vehicle Hold Control” and it helps the riders start the Multistrada 1200 Enduro on inclines and on slippery surfaces.
So if you were in for a Ducati that could charter rough terrains then this is what you want!!
