Hayabusa to become cheaper: Suzuki plans to assemble it locally

Suzuki has been selling their Hyperbike – Hayabusa in India in for some time now. Much to the surprise of Suzuki, they have been selling it in good numbers too. At present, the bike is being imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units) which is the most expensive route to bring bikes. However, to take advantage of the tide, the company has decided to adopt the CKD (Completely Knocked down Unit) to import bikes in future. There are two variant of bikes that are available in India – Standard and Limited edition. The standard model sells at 15.95lakh rupees and the limited edition is priced at 16.45lakh rupees (ex-showroom Delhi). After the adoption of CKD route, the prices are expected to reduce by approximately 5lakh rupees.

The superbike uses a 4-cylinder engine which has a displacement of 1340cc. The engine is capable of producing massive power 186.5PS and peak torque of 146Nm. The bike is capable of reaching the 100kmph speed mark within 3 seconds and can do a top speed of 300kmph. With the biking scene constantly evolving in India, the demand for superbikes and hyperbikes in only going to rise. Hayabusa competes with BMW K 1300S, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R etc. in the Indian market. With the company adopting the CKD route, the after sales service is also expected to improve significantly.
