Honda could possibly launch Metropolitan scooter in India
Snapshot: The scooter is offered only in fuel-injected 50cc engine in the international markets on the other hand we expect the India bound model to feature tried and tested unit from Activa 110.
The Japanese automaker, Honda is already the segment leader when it comes to scooters, as Honda manufactures the top selling two-wheeler, Activa in India. Now the company may be planning to launch a retro scooter as Honda has patented the retro urban Metropolitan in India market. Indian scooter market is already welcoming all segments of scooters with open arms and success of Yamaha Fascino and the all-new 2016 Suzuki Access 125 is a proof of same. Even niche products like Aprilia SR150 will be seen in our market very soon. So naturally this is a perfect time for manufacturers to play their cards in this segment.
The Honda Metropolitan seems like a very interesting concept for us. The scooter is offered only in fuel-injected 50cc engine in the international markets on the other hand we expect the India bound model to feature tried and tested unit from Activa 110. The competition in the scooter market is really growing harder and harder year on year. The new Honda Metropolitan will directly compete against the scooters from Vespa, Yamaha Fascino and the Suzuki Access 125.
