India Bike Week 2014 to be Bigger and Better!

India Bike Week (IBW), the Woodstock of Biking Festivals to be held on January 17th & 18th at Goa is all set for the most spectecular bike display of 2014. IBW is a Festival conceptualized and produced jointly by Seventy EMG and Fox Traveller. The festival sets up a stage for the largest gathering of Bike accessory brands, Freestyle Muscle Motocross Stunts and Stunt Compeition, Special Bike Showcase, Racing Teams, Product Launches, Full Contact Championship, Music, and Biking Legends.
According to the organisers, the IBW will be bigger and better this year, "Over 8,000 bikers from Bike customizers, biking legends, bike modifiers alongwith bike brands showcasing literally hundreds of never-seen-before machines. We’ve got the IBW Vintage Bike Concours, with a new ‘Century Class’ of 100 year old bikes, we’ve got Customs, Racing Bikes, Mod Bikes and many, many more. Let’s give you a preview of the line-up of these biking beauties."
The Modified Bike Competition of the IBW dsplays country’s largest range of custom bikes. Last year, these contests saw over a 100 entries, of which about twenty best modified bikes were displayed at the IBW. In Year Two, IBW seeks to make the Modified Bike Competition bigger by getting an expert jury panel to shortlist thirty bikes for the final display. The bikes will be judged on the basis of two criteria– Technical and Design. This year’s judging panel boasts of renowned Mumbai-based mechanic O.A. Anthony a.k.a. Anton, Harshman Rai, co-founder and director of Man’s World, legendary motorcycle adventurer Sam Childers a.k.a. Machine Gun Preacher.
Renowned groups such as Bombay Custom Works, Motoexotica India, Rag and Bone customs and customizers as well as owners of modified motorcycles from across the country had been invited to send in their entries.
Speaking on the occasion, Martin da Costa, CEO of 70 EMG said, “India Bike week is all about passion for bikes! Our aim is to offer something new and exciting for everyone at the festival so that it becomes an unforgettable experience. We are showcasing some of the never seen beauties at the festival in the Century Class, Mod Bike and IBW’s Bike Build Off showcase. We have partnered with brands that share the same passion such as Harley-Davidson, MRF, Castrol Power 1, Zippo, etc. For me, and for the 8,000 and more Bikers, Festival fans and travellers that will be in Goa for IBW, 17th January 2014 can’t come fast enough.”
The Bike Build-Off at IBW is gearing up for a sensational display of biking beauties across categories such as Chopper Class (hardtails, bobbers, low-riders, diggers, etc.) and Open Class (café racers, scramblers, boardtrack racers, motocross, enduros, sports bikes etc.). IBW has picked six of the Bike Builders who applied to a call for an entry– across the Open Class and Chopper Class. Vijay Singh, the winner of last year’s Build-Off got the chance to defend his title as an automatic entry into the finals of the Chopper Class.
The shortlisted Bike Builders- Transfigure Custom House, Bombay Custom Works, Motoexotica India, Rajputana Custom Works, Reza Hussain, Rag & Bone, RVS will show their creations at the festival.
Keertan Adyantaya, Managing Director Fox Traveller added “IBW 2014 edition builds on 2013’s strengths, and makes the canvas larger. The effort is to bring together the best of the experiences and entertainment that are available across the world, for bikers and bike lovers. This year we have picked and added much more to the IBW experience. We have international biking legends, Freestyle motorcycle stunts, over and above the stunt zones. Bike displays, new bike launches and the famous bike build off, on a larger scale. There is also enough to satisfy the overall adrenalin plus entertainment quotient. All this on the 17th & 18th January at Goa for all the bike and festival lovers.”
IBW Motorcycle Travellers Meet is an effort to unite global biking gurus with Indian loyalists. Motorcycle Travellers Meet is a get-together of like-minded serious motorcycle travellers and adventure motorcyclists. The meet is geared for travellers who belong on the motorcycle, who venture out to explore the boundaries of adventure and travel. It’s a meet to share experiences, tips and inspire the spirit of travel and adventure.
Bharadwaj Dayala, Avinash Thadani, Aashish Kumar, Eliza Massey, Lorraine Chittok are scheduled as keynote speakers for the IBW Motorcycle Travellers meet.
India Bike Week has also build a special 'BROTHERHOOD ZONE' inside the walls of festival area for hundreds of Indian Motorcycle Clubs and Bikers to park their machines, chill and hang out with each other at their Ladakh Tent. The F&B experienced promises to be a unique one with bars such as the Howling Dog Bar which shares a stage featuring IBW Legends and Bikes, a Beerbulance– for urgent beer needs, MyBBQ where one can choose a meat of choice and grill to their own doneness.
The IBW Stunt Zone is expected to have the best stunters from across the country showing how their motorcycles are really just an extension of their bodies. The best stunters who show their stunt skills will be chosen at the end of the festival and will win INR 50,000.
The official Rides of IBW have already begun and will continue till Jan 19. Rides have commenced from as far as Jammu, Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar and IBW’s touring partners have created Official trips from Bangalore, Mumbai, Jammu and one spectacular three days ride along the Konkan Coast.
The event also has a Bikini Bike Wash Bar & Lounge where the Bikini Wash girls will give your motorcycle a swanky clean.
An unforgettable way to start the new year, India Bike Week’14 has announced the smashing music line-up. India Bike will see bands, musicians such as DubVision from the Netherlands (Headliners Act), Andromakers (France), Chris Simmons (UK), Dualist Inquiry Band, The F16s, Donn Bhat & Passenger Revelator, The Vinyl Records, Frisky Pints, EZ Riser, The Grind and Rudy Roots Selekta.
IBW will honour the long-distance riders amongst the participants. The Long Haul Ride contest will pick ten motorcyclists who would have ridden the longest distances to get to India Bike Week in Goa. These ten long haul champions will get a lighter from Zippo.
The World Bazaar is present at the event where bikers can buy out stuff. With this IBW organisers are making sure that bikers don’t have to step out of the festival grounds to do their shopping.
