Indian's latest offering - Scout - launched in India; bookings commence
Snapshot: Scout will be Indian's most affordable motorcycle in India starting at just Rs. 11.99 lakhs
We had written about Burt Munro and his historic run at Bonneville Salt Flats in 1967 on his 1920 Indian Scout a few days ago. The occasion was the international re-launch of the lightest Indian in a long time - the Scout. Well, Polaris yesterday unveiled its latest offering to the world in India by commencing the bookings for the Indian Scout.
The engine of the Scout is very different from the 1,811cc engine that is found on the Classic, Vintage, Roadmaster and Chieftain. It is a 1,131cc engine which is Indian's first liquid-cooled engine. Its light weight makes it very nimble and easier to ride than its obese siblings. The Scout is expected to carry on the legacy clubbed with the latest technology. The engine churns out a maximum power of 100HP. Indian claims this bike to deliver exceptional handling and manoeuvrability due to its light weight and 135mm of ground clearance.
Indian had launched this motorcycle at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally held in August 2014 and now it is coming to Indian where its Gurgaon showroom will cater to the needs of the people who have fallen in love with this affordable and lightweight Indian.
Commenting on the launch of the motorcycle, Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd. said, "The launch of the Indian Scout in the United States has proved to be successful in stirring a new wave of enthusiasm. The launch just added another feather in our effort to revive the history of Indian Motorcycle®. The launched model is designed to possess the heritage of the past, blended with modern technology. We are now giving Indian enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history in a modern package by booking their own Indian Scout."
