Kawasaki on the road to expansion In India
Snapshot: Kawasaki Motors expands its dealership network and plans to cover larger share of the superbike segment in India
India Kawasaki Motors (IKM), the unit of Japanese motorcyle manufacturer Kawasaki, is eyeing a larger chunk of the Indian superbike market with demand for high-end bikes witnessing sustained growth.
Few months back, Kawasaki announced opening of separate dealerships for its high-end bikes, while Bajaj Auto continues to market and distribute its Ninja 300R and the Ninja 650R. After that, company opened its first dealership at Wakdewadi in Pune and now is all set to open its second dealership in New Delhi.
“We might look little slower on the expansion part but we are not rushing. Our current focus is to train our staff on technical aspects and ensure availability of parts,” said Shigeto, Head India Kawasaki Motors.
Kawaski recently launched their two superbikes namely Ninja 1000 and the Z 1000, here in India. Both the bikes will be imported as completely built units (CBU) from Japan and will be retailed through the existing standalone showroom of Kawasaki in Pune and the upcoming Delhi dealership. Both the superbikes are priced at INR 12, 50,000 (ex-showroom, Pune & Delh). Along with these superbikes, the company also offers, Ninja ZX-14R, ZX-10R, 650R and 300 in the country.
With this expansion, India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) aims at the sales figure of 100 units per model per year and hopes to cover one-fifth share of the superbike arena in the country in coming two years.
