Kawasaki to launch 2 new motorcycles on 16th October

Snapshot: Kawasaki will launch the Z250 and ER-6n on 16th October in Pune.

Kawasaki, the Japanese two wheeler giant, boasts of a long presence in India now, with initial entry with the collaboration of Bajaj and later coming to India on their own. The manufacturer famous for producing green machines, launched their baby Ninja, 250, in India few years ago, which received a good response in the market. But high cost, somewhat limited the sales and finally Kawasaki stopped its production with the launch of Ninja 300.

But now, it seems, they are again coming back to the competitive 250cc segment, with the launch of the Z250, a younger sibling of recently launched naked bike, Z800. The launch on 16th October will also see the naked version of the popular Tourer, Ninja 650, christened as the ER-6n. Both the bikes will be launched in Pune, the home for the Kawasaki, where it is manufactured and assembled.

The Z250 is powered by a 249cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled and parallel twin-cylinder engine producing a maximum power of 33bhp. The Kawasaki Z250 shares its design cues heavily from the Z800, making it a very powerful looking naked bike in the 250 cc category.

On the other hand, the Kawasaki’s ER-6n, is the naked version of the popular Ninja 650 Tourer. Powered by the same engine as on the fairing sibling, the ER-6r will have a parallel twin-cylinder, 649cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected unit, which will produce a power of 71.1bhp at 8,500rpm, with peak torque output being 6.5kgm at 7,000rpm.

Kawasaki has been on a launching spree for quite a some time now, with their latest naked Superbike launch, the Z800 and the Z1000. But, with the news of the DSK bringing the Benelli to the Indian shores, and BN302 model, which they can probably launch here, Kawasaki has played a masterstroke launching the Z250.
