Snapshot: First Spy Shotsof CB Unicorn 160 from Honda are out!
The all new 160cc power commuter from Honda has been coming since a long time. With, CB Dazzler which was indeed a capable motorcycle, but failed to set the sales registers on fire. Honda needs a motorcycle in the segment that can take the new breed of 150-160cc entrants from likes of Yamaha and Suzuki, and at the same time needs to fight the crown king of the segment, the Pulsars.
At Auto Expo 2014, we were promised by Honda that a new 160cc unit is coming to take the fight to the established players. We have had no idea what new design the new 160cc unit would arrive from Honda. However, BikesIndia has uploaded what would be the first lot of spyshots of the upcoming 160 cc motorcycle from Honda. Called the Honda CB Unicorn 160, the new motorcycle aims to leverage the strong brand value of the Unicorn to get going.
Saying that, we are not sure why Honda still is satisfied with going on a Conservative design philosophy, or it might be a case of multiple products are supposed to some with the same engine configuration, something which only time will tell. The headlamp and digital dashboard designs are close to that of its predecessor, the CB Trigger, while the fuel tank is simply not muscular enough to grab attention.
The tailpiece offers a wide seat which can accommodate the rider and pillion comfortably. The ‘X’ shaped taillight is the design highlight of the entire package and the motorcycle employs what looks like a 120 mm section rear tyre (FZ and Gixxer use much fatter rubber).
Not surprisingly, the CB Unicorn 160 employs a telescopic front fork and mono-shock rear suspension system. The front disc comes as standard while the rear disc brake is optional. The powertrain details are scarce as of now except for the displacement which is in the vicinity of 160 cc. It also remains to be seen if the engine is fuel-injected but there are no ‘PGM-FI’ stickers anywhere on the bike. Expect the power output to be in the range of 15-16 PS.The spyshots suggest that the new two wheeler has already reached the service centres for training purposes implying the launch could take place in the coming weeks.
