Spied - Behold the tastefully tempting Suzuki GSX-R250 in all its glory!
Snapshot: The upcoming Suzuki quarter litre super sports has been spied in flesh and it is a beauty!!
Finally! Suzuki seems to be ready with their own contender in the quarter liter super sport segment and we admit, the way it looks, it might just be a thing to wait desperately for. A few Japanese forums have just got their hands on the production spec Suzuki quarter liter bike, which we reckon will be named Suzuki GSX-R250. Good thing is, this same bike is expected to be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and should be launched in India around the mid 2016 mark too.
Expected to be power by a retuned engine from the very capable but old school design, Suzuki Inazuma and we reckon it is a perfect thing to start with since the Inazuma's inline twin 248cc liquid-cooled engine was a gem of a power unit that produced a decent 26Ps and 24Nm of peak torque. Expect the GSX-R250 to have slightly better power figures from the discontinued naked tourer. However, as per the spy images, it does seem that the Suzuki quarter liter will be more of a super sport than an outright track tool, which is something more suitable and logical for our Indian kind of market and conditions.
When launched the bike should be ready enough to go head to head with the 2015 Indian Bike of the Year, the brilliant Yamaha R, however, it will be interesting to know, what route Suzuki Motorcycles India would choose to bring the bike to the Indian market. If Suzuki takes the same CKD route as its core competition than the pricing will also be in the same ballpark as its rivals, but if Suzuki decides to manufacture the bike in India, then it might just release a cat among the pigeons with a price tag which would not only be lower than its core rivals, but it will also pitch the twin inline quarter liter super sport closer to its single cylinder rivals, thus gaining from a void that others have failed to capitalize on.
Stay tuned here as we bring more updates regarding the all new Suzuki GSX-R250!!
