TVS all set to rock and roll in 2014-15
Snapshot: With new launches in the pipeline, the Chennai based auto maker is doing everything it could to stay on the third spot in the Indian market.
Yesterday, we had posted a news about TVS overtaking Bajaj to claim the third spot in the Indian two-wheeler market. Now it seems that TVS is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it enjoys the spot for a longer time and give Bajaj a tough time. TVS is doing fairly well in the scooter segment and is enjoying a fair rise in the motorcycle market too, and by launching a few more new models in this financial year, it plans to strengthen its base all the more.
"A slew of new launches of motorcycles and scooters in 2014-15 are expected to further strengthen the presence of the company in motorcycle category and consolidate position in scooter category," said the company's annual report. In 2013-14, the company sold 63% more three-wheelers than what it sold in 2012-13. The year also witnessed a 14% growth in the exports. TVS has also joined hands with the German giant BMW to develop motorcycles under 500cc under which the first bike should be out in the market by next year.
TVS has planned to launch a two-wheeler every quarter for the next three years which, if it happens, will boost the sales and network like no other competitor. The company plans to also invest Rs 250 crores in FY 15. Another area of focus will be exports to markets in Africa, South America and Indonesia.
