TVS Draken being showcased in Indonesia
Snapshot: TVS showcasing the Draken Concept in Indonesia to read the market response
The home-grown automaker TVS has been in light since the day its Draken concept made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo. The model was anticipated to be a co-development of BMW Motorrad, TVS' technology partner, and TVS that could also serve as next-generation platform for the Apache series of motorcycles. However, none of the manufacturers confirmed whether the story is true or not as the model was showcased to gather the market feedback only. Interestingly, the Draken grabbed a lot attention at the show and now TVS has taken the concept to Indonesia to ascertain the reaction from the market.
TVS has been present in the Indonesian market since a long time now. Along with its flagship model Apache on offering, the company also assembles a few other models which remain exclusive to the Indonesian market. In this way, gauging the market response becomes crucial as this will help the company to engineer a suitable product for both markets. Despite being a concept, the Draken's design and styling seems quite practical as well as exciting at the same time. The bike is powered by a 250cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine that churns out 38bhp of power and 23Nm of torque. No doubt, the power output is simply surprising that might give it an edge over its competitors. Although, TVS has been tight lipped about making its entry in the quarter-litre segment in India, but if reports are to be believed the company will introduce its first 250cc model around the first quarter of 2015.
