TVS Jupiter crosses 5 lakh sales milestone

TVS might have come a long way from its TVS-Suzuki days, but it’s still a relatively new player in the scooter market, or that could just be the wrong impression we’ve had all this while. Selling scooters in the Indian market is a tough job, but one that TVS has been able to crack, very efficiently. The TVS Jupiter has managed to cross the 5 lakh sales milestone in just one and a half years (18 months) from the time it was launched, i.e. in September 2013.
In a market where Honda’s dominance has proven to the main deterrent to the competitors’ success, and the impetus behind reviving the segment, TVS’ Jupiter has shone bright indeed. Targeted as a sporty offering in the segment, the Jupiter is powered by a 110cc engine that makes 8.2PS of power, comes mated to a CVT gearbox, and can deliver up to 62 kmpl (as claimed by the company).
The sheet metal bodied gearless scooter comes in six colour choices, matte and non matte both, and appeals to the younger crowd as well. Other things that work in its favour are the external fuel filler for a huge 5.3-litre fuel tank, a 17-litre underseat storage compartment, mobile charger, and of course, the telescopic forks up front which help the vehicle achieve a pleasurable ride and handling setup.
