The Moto GP paddock is home to the highest level of Motorcycle racing on the planet, the prototype machines are the most advanced piece of machinery on two wheels ever conceived and the electronic packages present on them are far more complex than the satellites of yesteryears.
Suzuki has had a love hate relationship with Moto GP, with its iconic history in the olden times to its generally falling behind its rivals in the modern era, the Suzuki Moto GP effort has seen it all. When Suzuki left the paddock a few years ago, everyone doubted, if it will ever return to Gran prix racing. Good News came in 2014 when we eventually found out that Suzuki is indeed serious in returning to the premier class. It’s been a busy year for Suzuki Racing, as the Japanese motorcycle company is looking to re-enter the Moto GP World Championship for the 2015 season.
Getting their Suzuki GSX-RR race bike ready, and their racing program on-point, hasn’t been easy for the OEM — even with a fast test rider like Randy de Puniet. Suzuki recaps their efforts in 2014 with this short video, which shows a behind-the-scenes look at the GSX-RR’s development and Suzuki’s Moto GP preparations.
With Aleix Espargaro and Maverik Vinales set to race next season, many in the GP paddock are anxious to see Suzuki’s return to Grand Prix racing. The expectations are optimistic, though also realistic, the 2015 will be a development season for sure, but the GSX-RR appears to be a solid platform to build upon.
