Yamaha MT-03 Overview
The naked version of Yamaha R3 is about to make its debut and is expected to called Yamaha MT-03 by the company. The bike would be imported to India as completely knocked down unit (CKD) from Yamaha’s Indonesian manufacturing plant. It will be identical to MT-25 visually and is going to be a stripped down version of the YRF-R3 in terms of cosmetics. It will do away with the front fairing of the latter and will sport a roadster motorcycle styled single piece handlebar in place of a clip-on unit. It will weigh around 165Kg and hence will get a slight power-to-weight ratio advantage over the faired version. It will compete with the likes of KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300 and upcoming Kawasaki Z50SL in the Indian market.
Yamaha MT-03 Performance and Handling
The bike is expected to come equipped with a 321cc parallel twin engine that will develop 42PS of power and 27Nm of torque. This twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine will be based on fuel injection technology and will come paired with a 6-speed transmission. The bike will sit on a diamond steel frame and will sport the Anti Lock braking feature and will also make use of telescopic forks in the front along with monoshock suspension at the rear. Thos robust suspension system will ensure a smooth ride. Both the axles of this bike would be assembled with disc brakes for powerful braking. . It will sport 17 inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. It will weigh around 165Kg and hence will get a slight power-to-weight ratio advantage over the faired version.
