2020 Auto Expo - The Motor Show

The 2020 Delhi Auto Expo will be open to the public from 7th to 12th February. It is the biggest motor show in Asia, and one of the biggest in the world when you consider the number of people that visit it. Here’s what you should know about it.

2020 Auto Expo Dates

The dates for the public are 7th to 12th February, but the major media days are the 5th and 6th of February, when the launches and displays will be unveiled. If you’re an enthusiast or simply planning to buy a new car, those are the two days that you need to track our news section for the latest news. The component manufacturer exhibition, which is a part of the Auto Expo, will be held from the 6th to the 9th of February.

2020 Auto Expo Venue

From 1986 to 2012, the Auto Expo held its component show and auto manufacturers show in the same place, Pragati Maidan. Since 2014, it has been split into two separate venues – the Auto Expo Components 2020 will be held at Pragati Maidan, but the 2020 Auto Expo – The Motor Show has moved to India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. The nearest Delhi Metro station is Knowledge Park 2, on the Aqua Line. If you choose to drive there, you need to get on the Greater Noida Expressway heading towards Noida, and then follow the signs. There is ample parking at the venue – just be prepared for a long-ish walk in a field to get to and from your car!

2020 Auto Expo Tickets

Tickets for the 2020 Auto Expo can be purchased off BookMyShow or the Auto Expo app. 7th February is designated a business day, which is why anyone under 18 years of age will be refused admission. Tickets for the 7th are priced at Rs 750. The 8th and 9th are priced at Rs 475, since they’re the weekend days. The remaining three days from the 10th to the 12th are priced at Rs 350.

2020 Auto Expo Exhibitor list

The list of exhibitors at the 2020 Auto Expo is a long one. There's the names you'd expect: Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata, Mercedes-Benz, Piaggio with its Vespa and Aprilia brands, Skoda, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Renault, Isuzu, Force Motors, Hero Motocorp, and TVS. There are a few Auto Expo first-timers like Kia, MG Motor and GWM as well. There are some peripheral exhibitors at India Expo Mart as well. Some of them are ARAI, MapMyIndia, Pirelli, JK Tyre, Ralco tyres, and interestingly, Facebook and Jio.

What to look out for at the 2020 Auto Expo

The 2020 Auto Expo has another role to play as well – it needs to drum up interest and enthusiasm in the auto sector at a time when the prices of vehicles are increasing sharply due to the addition of technology for cleaner emissions, while sales have declined for well over a year. As such, it will display a number of new vehicles, both completely new models that will make their appearance in the Indian market soon, as well as heavily updated models that have been upgraded to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Of course, the segments that make the enthusiast’s heart race will be well represented as well: there will be a fair number of concept vehicles as well as racing machinery on display.

If you’re not much of an enthusiast and want to go there to spot a celebrity or two at the Auto Expo, aim to get there on the 8th and 9th. Those are the days on which the celebrities will most probably make their appearances.
